A Personal Update

Hey guys,

Pete here, I just wanted to get a few things off my chest.

This year has been a great year for the show but sadly it has not been that great a year for myself personally. I have put myself under considerable stress.

If you are not aware, I run the site and the shoots now. In the past I just ran the site and the business side of things while someone else did the shoots. I took the decision to take over the shoots after I was not entirely happy with how certain shoots were turning out. So I decided to take complete control over the whole Splat! operation. Running Splat! while holding down a full time job is hard work. Yes, I have a full time job as well as running the site.

When I am not at work I work on the site. Sadly the business side of the operation is the most intensive. I have to keep detailed records of pretty much everything and make sure I am trading legally dealing with red tape from across the globe, it's no joke. The shoots are exhausting and the clean up is torture.  But I still love it.

Over the weekend I received and email from one of the few friends I have made during my time running the shoots. I won't get into the actual content of that email, but lets just say It was a wake up call.  It allowed me to correct a few issues that remained unsolved for far to long.

I love what I do, but it's clear that I need to manage my time more effectively if I am going to remain sane and healthy. During the course of this year I have made myself sick from working too hard and not having a good plan in place. Splat! has suffered, I have suffered and my personal life has suffered.

Yesterday for example I was up at 8.00am to work on a few Splat! orders I then had to be in for work at 11am till 8pm and I then worked on the Benji pre-order until midnight. I still had cleaning from the shoots to do too. Today, I feel exhausted  and sick. That cannot continue.

The good news is that going forward I am feel I am better prepared to deal with theses challenges. It is not going to be easy and mistakes will be made but this time they will be corrected in good time instead of waiting too long for them to be corrected.

I plan on taking a short break between season 14 (there are only a few bits left to shoot) and season 15 production. I don't know how long this will be, but it won't be that long and you should see new shows being released as there are a fair few waiting to be released that have already been shot.

I don't want to go on too long and dwell on the negatives. I just want you all to know that I I am ok and I will continue to produce the best shows possible for you all. My ultimate goal is to quit the day Job and work on Splat! Full time, but currently that is not possible. Until then I will continue but I will make sure I look after myself a little more. I am not sure how this will effect the number of shows I produce going forward, but we will see.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the shows we have coming!

Thank you, I love you all.

Pete
